About this site
Social-Anxiety.info is a website created by myself, Mark Holman,
as I suffer from social anxiety but not realising other people did
until I stumbled across an article last year (2002).
I am now trying to limit the effects of
social anxiety, and by producing this website, hope I can build
a community to help others and to provide a useful resource for
friends or interested parties to gain a greater insight into what
social anxiety incurrs on a persons life.
Read about SA
As a first step, please read through some of the pages in the information area
such as the
introduction,
short summary,
some of the symptoms associated with sa,
and some example scenarios of what it's
like to suffer from sa.
This leaflet is from the UK NHS and gives some very good explanations as to the thought process of someone suffering from social anxiety. The leaflet also contains an introduction of the beginning processes a person suffering from social anxiety can use to start to overcome social anxiety.
Diaries
You can also read diaries of people's lives within the community area,
so that you may realise that you are not alone and not "different". Writing
a diary can be beneficial and being able to openly discuss the way you
feel to others who feel the same or similar way can give you the belief you
need.
The hardest part for me was believing that other people out there could be having
the same problem and that something could be done about it - by visiting this
website you have taken that first step. To know other
people are the same is a great comfort, and hopefully you can relate to
the information provided on this website and become a part of the
community.
About me
You can find out more about me and how I am doing by visiting my
diary page and going to the about me area.
If you are someone who knows a person with SA and would like to help or learn
more, you can visit the information area
for more information.
